The Information Visualisation Society (IVS) serves as a global organization with the primary goal of establishing a robust framework that seamlessly integrates human-centered, technological, and strategic dimensions of information visualization. Its mission revolves around fostering international exchange, collaboration, and advancement in this field. Following the noteworthy success of last year’s workshop, the IVS is delighted to unveil the “16th Doctoral Research Workshop,” a pivotal component of the upcoming 27th International Conference on Information Visualisation (IV2023). Organized in collaboration with Graphicslink-Research (UK) and Coimbra University (Portugal), the 16th Doctoral Research Workshop on Information Visualisation stands as a testament to the IVS’s commitment to scholarly excellence and collaborative progress.

Who can present?
This event invites doctoral students engaged in research within the realm of the IV conference theme to showcase their work. Whether in the early stages or more advanced phases of their research programs, students are encouraged to present their findings for constructive discussion and feedback. It’s important to bear in mind, though, that presentation slots are limited, emphasizing the significance of early registration to secure a place for sharing and receiving valuable insights.

To facilitate comprehensive feedback from our combined industrial and academic panel of researchers, we kindly request the submission of the following information:
1. Title  of PhD Research & Outline:
Please provide a concise outline of your research, ensuring the description does not exceed 700 words.
2. List of Presentations, Abstracts, or Published Papers
Include a list of any presentations, abstracts, or papers that have already been published based on your research, particularly for those nearing the completion of their study programs.
3. Your Research Schedule:
Specify the date when you commenced your research and the expected completion date.

Kindly ensure that this information is emailed to the conference Secretariat at iV_CGiV@graphicslink.co.uk at your earliest convenience but no later than June 15, 2024.

Can I attend without presenting?

If you opt not to present, feel free to attend as a participant. Last year, many found it valuable, and we encourage all to consider joining. It’s a chance to connect with peers and researchers in your field, offering networking opportunities. You might build key contacts that impact your future career. Your participation, even as an observer, enriches the experience for all.

When is it and how much will it cost?
The workshop will take place on 23  July 2024 (the day before the main IV2024 conference). The cost for presenters and attendees is Cost: €100. This cost includes a printed copy of the abstracts as well as lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

Submission procedure

  • Online submission of your work in PDF format is preferred.
  • The administration tool used by the conference administration team is called “ConfTool,” and it is available on the submission page.
  • In order to submit your work for review, please register with the ConfTool system as a new user. You will be required to enter your details and specify a username and password.
  • Once you have registered, you will be able to submit your work. Follow the onscreen instructions as directed.

Accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference Book of Abstracts.
